Injustice pt. 2: Responding With Mercy

When God sits down and stares into the eyes of a person who has just murdered a child, raped someone, or spent a life in addiction to pornography and gives them the chance to change their mind and be made into a new creation as His child, that’s scary. And sometimes we don’t want to admit that He’s the kind of God who does that. It’s not how we’d like to respond to that person.

There are many ideologies, even within some Christians, that sound so good and so right that it would be easy to say, “That’s truth. That’s what Jesus would do.” But I think Jesus gave us warnings against even these things that appear as truth, but in reality are just deceptions covered in pretty wrapping paper.

Refugees in Cyprus

Being here only five weeks, I have seen a flood of forcibly displaced peoples pouring into the country. At the refugee center I volunteer at, there are new people every week who have come from another country to escape war or some other injustice. Cyprus is overwhelmed with this influx, and within the country, there is a growing question of, “What do we do?”

Bittersweet Sailings

Friendship is a total gift, especially the kind that comes out of nowhere. I’ve encountered many types of friendships, and the sweetest ones include understanding one another beyond words, having the exact same humor that no one else has, and desiring only the best for one another to the point you can only speak truth and life.
